Our Story
The National Chorale of Jamaica was founded in 1972.
Winston Ewart, JP, MA, LRSM, Local Representative, Trinity College, London, has been the conductor of the group since September 1996.
Our Main Goals Are
- To bridge the gap in musical presentations in Jamaica by presenting programmes which include the widest variety of music which has found a place in the musical literature of the country over the years
- To promote the development of young musicians, through their inclusion in concerts and by provision of scholarships
Awards
- 1991 Jamaica Music Industry Awards (JAMI) for the Best Vocal Group-Classical Music.
- 1996 Jamaica Music Industry Awards (JAMI) for the Best Vocal Group-Classical Music.
- 2001 1st place in the Mixed Voice Category of the Music Teachers Festival.
NCOJ Medal of Excellence Awards
The NCOJ Medal of Excellence Awards honours members, who over the years, have made significant contributions to the Chorale’s development and or Jamaicans who have distinguished themselves in the field of Classical Music at the international level.
